Robbert’s obvious Australian accent pinpoints his origins. Born in Sydney, Robbert lived in Sydney, Adelaide and Melbourne before emigrating to the U.S. with his Texas bride in 1991, in order to be closer to her family. Ten years ago he proudly became a U.S. citizen.
Robbert purchased a travel agency in 1995 and transformed an unprofitable, small business with monthly sales of $20K into a large, financially successful operation including a family of 80 plus agenda and independent contractors, developed some niche opportunities, purchased five additional travel agencies and had three separate locations with annual sales in excess of $15 million.
As a local business owner, it was a logical step to join the Rowlett Chamber of Commerce in 2008, become an Ambassador, elected by peers to be the Chairman of the Ambassadors then later invited to serve on the Board of the Chamber of Commerce. Robbert is also a member of the Rowlett Lions Club as the Communications Director and serves on the Board of Directors for Keep Rowlett Beautiful.
Robbert serves on the City of Rowlett Audit Committee, as Council liaison to the Arts and Humanities Commission, is a graduate of Leadership Rowlett, assisted in a variety of ways to help victims of the tornado that struck Rowlett and helped build the new Kids Kingdom.
On three separate occasion, Robbert has participated in the American Cancer Society Relay for Life. At each fundraiser, he personally raised in excess of $1,000, and as a team leader, managed his group to be the second highest fundraising team for the meet.
Robbert manages a Job site on Facebook with over 10,000 members who actively search for employment and employers who advertise positions available. Many people have been helped and found employment specifically in the Lake Ray Hubbard area.
He is also a member of the Rowlett Photography Group and regularly takes photos of city events such as 5K races, the Cardboard Boat Regatta, the Memorial Day Celebration featuring Touch-a-Truck, and many other city events to provide citizens with memories on social media.
Robbert’s management style reflects his personable nature; he uniformly maintains a respectful tone and Customer Service focus when communicating with others. He trains his eye on the “big picture” and utilizes his entrepreneurial background to be a nonconformist, when necessary, seeking better ways to do things, often breaking from tradition when faced with the need to make quick decisions while maintaining conservative fiscal management with a focus on enhancing quality economic development in Rowlett.
Robbert has a knowledgeable, agreeable, cordial, entertaining and reliable demeanor, combined with a polished, professional appearance, integrity and an Australian accent, which enhances his charismatic nature.
