Tammy was originally elected to the Rowlett City Council and has been serving since May 2013. Tammy's primary interests are driving sustainable economic development, ensuring conservative fiscal management, providing an ethical and transparent government and improving communication between citizens and government.
Tammy is a Certified Public Accountant with 30 years of varied experience in the business community. Tammy currently owns and operates Seniors Helping Seniors, a local home care business. Previously, Tammy spent 11 years as an auditor with a national public accounting firm, 2 years as a Director of Operations over nine senior care facilities, and over 16 years in financial and operational management positions with a software services company.
In addition to her service on the Rowlett City Council, Tammy is a member of the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), the Rowlett Long Term Recovery Committee, the Rowlett Economic Development Advisory Board and the Rowlett Chamber of Commerce. Regionally, Tammy serves on the Advisory Council for The Salvation Army Garland Corps and the Emergency Preparedness Planning Council. Tammy currently serves as council representative for the Rowlett Senior Advisory Board and the City of Rowlett Audit Committee. Tammy is a graduate of Leadership Rowlett and Leadership North Texas. Previously, Tammy has served on the Rowlett Charter Review Commission and the Downtown Development Task Force (Realize Rowlett 2020). Tammy is a very active volunteer in the community with extensive leadership roles in PTA and booster organizations of Garland Independent School District, governing bodies of her church - First Rowlett United Methodist Church, and the Boy Scouts of America.
Tammy moved from Michigan to the DFW area after college graduation in 1981 and has lived in Rowlett for the last 14 years. Tammy and her husband Barry Dana-Bashian, have two boys - Mitchell and Clayton. Mitchell is studying mechanical engineering at Texas A&M University and Clayton is entering Texas Christian University in the fall of 2016 to study international economics and philosophy with eventual plans to attend law school. Barry is a systems engineer with L-3 Communications in Greenville, Texas.
