Title: Deputy Mayor Pro Tem - Councilmember - Place Five

Rick Sheffield Rick was elected to the Rowlett City Council in May of 2014. He had previously served two terms on the Council from 2000 - 2004. Rick had most recently served the city as the Chairman of the Planning and Zoning Commission from 2010 - 2014 and was a member of the Commission since 2007. His focus is to help the city diversify its housing market in order to facilitate commercial and corporate interest in Rowlett and create sustainable growth.

Rick moved to Rowlett in 1988 and his community focus began in 1997 when he founded the Rowlett Youth Soccer Association and served as its President in its formative years. He was also a Construction Captain on the Kid's Kingdom project, spending a week with neighbors constructing a great playground that lasted for many years. In addition to his time on the Planning and Zoning Commission, Rick was a member of the Rowlett 2020 Advisory Committee, Downtown Advisory Committee, and the North Shore Advisory Committee.

Rick has a strong business background, spending close to 20 years in the Telecommunications industry. Over the years, he managed various functions from Engineering, Operations, Technical Support, and Field Construction. He has degrees in Electronics Engineering Technology, Computer Networking Support, and Business Administration. Rick currently works as a REALTOR® and Property Manager.
