Notice Effective 2/2/2016:

The City of Rowlett has declared a state of disaster as a result of tornado damage sustained on December 26th

All contractors working in the City of Rowlett must be registered and will be required to show proof of registration upon request.  When registering or renewing a contractor's license, you must bring copies of the driver's licenses of any person from the company that will be working in the disaster area as well as a list of the license plate numbers, makes, and models of all vehicles.
Please note that due to the volume of submissions, contractor registrations/renewals and permit applications are no longer available to be submitted online.  We apologize for the inconvenience.

A list of registered contractors is available here. Please note that this list changes daily and will be updated periodically. Inclusion on the registered contractor list in no way conveys an endorsement by the City of Rowlett.

Welcome to the Development Services Department. If you would like to add onto your existing home, construct an accessory building, expand a small business or embark on a large development project, we are here to walk you through the development process from start to finish.

The Development Services Department serves as the staff liaison to the Planning and Zoning Commission and the Board of Adjustment.  To view our most recent agendas and minutes for the Planning and Zoning meetings and the Board of Adjustments, please visit our Boards and Commissions page. 

We manage land use development through the administration of the Rowlett Development Code and the implementation of the Comprehensive Plan, other plans, ordinances, policies, and procedures of the City. 

We also prepare plans and/or studies that serve to guide future target development in the community, all while maintaining a high level of integrity and customer service.
