The Arts and Humanities Commission
sponsored a Summer Youth Writing Contest, called, "Summer Scribes". The contest was open to all students (Grades 1-12) who were summer residents of the Lake Ray Hubbard area. Its purpose was to encourage and reward excellence in written communication skills. Entries were judged on originality, content, creativity, relevancy, structure and the intangible: how the work touches the reader.
