Positions On the Ballot
  • Mayor - Unexpired Term through May, 2019
  • Councilmember Place 1* (will officially be added at the Special Meeting July 6th)
  • Councilmember Place 2* - Unexpired Term through May, 2019 (will officially be added at the Special Meeting July 6th)
  • Councilmember Place 3 (will officially be added at Special Meeting July 6th)

*Council will officially accept Mr. van Bloemendaal's and Ms. Dana-Bashian's resignations at their Regular meeting of June 20th.

The City Secretary's Office has published a Candidate's Guide, which provides helpful information regarding important dates, required forms, campaign finance information, important contact information and includes all the paperwork necessary to become a candidate.

To request a guide, just fill out the Candidate Guide Request Form.

Filing Periods
MAYOR: Begins Wednesday, June 7th with a deadline of Monday, June 26th at 5:00 p.m. (Write-In candidates have the same deadline.)

COUNCILMEMBER: Begins Friday, July 7th with a deadline of Monday, July 17th at 5:00 p.m. (Write-In candidates have the same deadline.)

Candidate paperwork can be turned in Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in the Office of the City Secretary located at City Hall, 4000 Main Street, Rowlett, Texas 75088 (or mailed to the same address - filed date is date of receipt and not date postmarked).

Official List of Candidates
The following candidates have filed the necessary paperwork, which has been reviewed and verified by staff. These names will appear on the ballot - the order to be determined by a drawing to be held July 18th.

                        Tammy Dana-Bashian

Voter Registration
To vote in this Special Election, you must be registered by July 27, 2017. This includes updating changes of address or name changes/corrections.

To check your voter registration status, you may look up your information on  the Dallas County Elections website. If you are a Rowlett resident in Rockwall County, you may look up your registration information on the Rockwall County Elections website.

Early Voting
Early Voting will take place at the City Hall Annex, 4004 Main Street (where you pay your water bill) the following dates and times:

    Wednesday thru Friday     August 9 thru August 11, 2017     8 a.m. – 5 p.m.
    Monday thru Friday          August 14 thru August 18, 2017   8 a.m. – 5 p.m.  
    Saturday                         August 19, 2017                         8 a.m. – 5 p.m.
    Sunday                           August 20, 2017                         1 p.m. – 6 p.m.
    Monday and Tuesday       August 21 – 22, 2017                  7 a.m. – 7 p.m.

*PLEASE NOTE - THERE WILL BE ONLY ONE LOCATION FOR EARLY VOTING

Election Day
Saturday, August 26, 2017, voting will also take place at the City Hall Annex, 4004 Main Street between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m.
