24 Hours
To report an emergency, or a crime in progress, call 9-1-1.
If you are in a dangerous situation and cannot talk, and you are in Rowlett, text 911.

The Communications Center is staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week.  For non-emergency police assistance, please call the center directly at 972-412 6200, Option 1.

Communications Duties
The Communications Center is where all 9-1-1 and non-emergency policefire and medical calls are received. Using computer-aided dispatch (CAD) software, Communications officers prioritize calls and relay information to emergency responders via an 800 MHz, trunked radio system. They also dispatch for Animal Services and are responsible for activating the weather emergency sirens in the event of severe weather in the area.

Officer Certifications
All Communications Officers are certified for Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD) in order to provide medical pre-arrival instructions to callers until help arrives. The Communications Officers are also licensed by the State of Texas, with most holding Master Telecommunications Officer Licenses.

Communications Center Equipment
The Communications Center is equipped with a Phase II compliant E9-1-1 system capable of displaying both a telephone number and the general location of a wireless caller as well as the address of a landline call to 9-1-1. The center utilizes Everbridge as the mass notification system in order to notify registered residents of emergency situations, severe weather alerts and community events. Residents may register for notifications by clicking on “Connect Rowlett” at the top of the page.
