Overview

Welcome to the Community Development Department. If you would like to add onto your existing home, construct an accessory building, expand a small business or embark on a large development project, we are here to walk you through the development process from start to finish.

The Community Development Department serves as the staff liaison to the Planning and Zoning Commission and the Board of Adjustment. To view our most recent agendas and minutes for the Planning and Zoning meetings and the Board of Adjustment, please visit our Boards and Commissions page.

Responsibilities

We manage land use development through the administration of the Rowlett Development Code, Rowlett Form Based Code, and the implementation of the Comprehensive Plan, other plans, ordinances, policies, and procedures of the City.

We also prepare plans and/or studies that serve to guide future target development in the community, all while maintaining a high level of integrity and customer service.
