As we know, a second healthcare worker was diagnosed with the Ebola virus and traveled on a flight from Cleveland to Dallas earlier this week. She was not showing any symptoms of the disease during her travel, it is important to know that individuals are not contagious until symptoms appear.
Two Rowlett residents, who have children attending Schrade Middle School, were also passengers on this flight. They have been in contact with the Center for Disease Control (CDC) and, because their seating location was in a no-risk area, no quarantine is necessary and the students are not being withheld from school.
Both families are cooperating entirely with the CDC. The City of Rowlett is communicating with GISD, the CDC and Dallas County Health & Human Services (DCHHS). GISD is taking proactive measures at the school, which include increased cleaning throughout the day, an intensive deep-clean this evening and an expert cleaning this weekend.
