Activities for All Ages

Rowlett Wellness: Dogs & Docs - Saturday, May 7 at 11:00 am - Meet Izzy and Amy to learn how to interact with dogs and prevent dog bites, then hear about the benefits of taking walks with your dog from local MD, Dr. Amanda Mohamed.

Marvel vs. DC - Saturday, May 14 at 11:00 am - Join us in front of the Library (weather permitting) for the ultimate superhero faceoff. Pick your side and challenge your abilities. Enjoy Marvel vs. DC themed games, crafts, and the ultimate dance-off! Costumes are encouraged.

Youth Programs

Rhythm & Rhyme Storytime -  Tuesdays at 10:00 am & 11:00 am - A 20-minute lapsit storytime featuring developmentally appropriate board books, rhymes, and movement encouraging early literacy for infants up to 18 months. Caregivers also learn valuable information on how to continue building literacy at home. If children can walk steadily, then we suggest Family Storytime. 

Family Storytime -  Wednesdays & Thursdays at 10:00 am & 11:00 am - For children of all ages who can actively engage. This interactive storytime with books, music, and movement is a high engagement storytime that instills the love of literacy and the Library at an early age. Caregivers also learn valuable information on how to continue building literacy at home. While all ages are welcome, we will focus on pre-literacy skills. Thursday is a repeat of Wednesday's program.

After School Clubs - Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:00pm-5:00pm                                                                                  Bricks & Books (Tuesdays) - Use toy building bricks to complete different challenges based on books For school age students 10-18.

Rovers (Thursdays) - Participants explore the wide world through reading, STEM, and innovation. For elementary age students.

Teen Takeover - Saturday, May 21 at 11:00 am - Teens can come hang out, eat pizza, and watch a movie related a book. We will discuss the book and the movie (love or hate) in open-minded discussion. This month we will read Star Wars: Pirate's Price by Lou Anders and watch Spaceballs [PG]. Starting May 2, you can claim your activity kit to accompany the book and movie. Registration is requested for an accurate food order. You can register at the red reference desk or by visiting the Teens > Teen Takeover! tab. 

Adult Programs

Senior Book Club - Wednesday, May 4 at 1:00 pm - The group will discuss The Chilbury Ladies' Choir by Jennifer Ryan (Historical Fiction).

Beginner PowerPoint Workshop - Thursday, May 5 at 1:00 pm Learn the basics of starting a PowerPoint and building a better presentation.

Revenge of the Fifth - Thursday, May 5 at 6:00 pm - Come geek-out, eat pizza, and watch Revenge of the Sith [PG-13] with other Star Wars fans.

Maker Mondays - May 9 & 23 at 6:30 pm - Maker Monday is an in-person craft program for adults every 2nd & 4th Monday. Adults are invited to learn something new, share with others, seek crafting advice, and meet other makers. Materials are provided free of charge. Ages 14 and up welcome. This month we will cover calligraphy (5/9) and block printing (5/23).

Friends of the Library Meeting - Tuesday, May 17 at 6:30 pm - Want to get more involved in the library? Come to a Friends of the Library meeting every 3rd Tuesday at 6:30pm. Membership is not required in order to attend the meetings.

Trivia Night: Superheroes - Thursday, May 19 at 6:30 pm - Join us every 3rd Thursday of the month for Trivia Night. Put your knowledge to the test with other adults in teams or as a single player. The trivia topic will change each month, so be ready for some competitive fun. Kahoot! will be used to play.

Interview 101 - Saturday, May 21 at 2:00 pm - Learn what it takes to succeed in job interviews and practice your skills answering questions employers might ask.

Beginner Excel Workshop - Thursday, May 26 at 1:00 pm Learn the fundamentals of Excel to become better at using spreadsheets.
