Library calendar for December 2022

The Library will close from 11:15 am to 1:15 pm on December 1 due to a city function.

The Library will be closed December 24 & 26 in observance of the Christmas holiday.

Activities for All Ages

Winter Reading - Monday, November 21 to Saturday, December 31 - All ages can participate in the Winter Reading Program from November 21 to December 31. Participants will earn prizes for reading and get the opportunity to enter raffle tickets for a grand prize Family Basket. Reading logs can be collected at the red reference desk. 

Dorsey Elementary Choir - Friday, December 9 at 11:00 am - Hear the joyful songs of winter as sung by the Dorsey Elementary Choir.

Gingerbread House Contest - Saturday, December 10 at 11:00 am - Sugar and spice make winter so nice! Dazzle your friends and family by creating a confectionary masterpiece. Work in teams to compete and win prizes! The library will supply all materials.

Youth Programs

Rhythm & Rhyme Storytime – Tuesdays at 10:00 am - A 20-minute lapsit storytime featuring developmentally appropriate board books, rhymes, and movement encouraging early literacy for non-walking infants. Caregivers also learn valuable information on how to continue building literacy at home. If children can walk steadily, then we suggest Family Storytime.

Family Storytime – Wednesdays & Thursdays at 10:00 am & 11:00 am - For children of all ages who can actively engage. This interactive storytime with books, music, and movement is a high engagement storytime that instills the love of literacy and the Library at an early age. Caregivers will also learn valuable information on how to continue building literacy at home. While all ages are welcome, we will focus on pre-literacy skills. Thursday is a repeat of Wednesday's program.

Adult Programs

First-Time Homebuyer's Workshop - Saturday, December 3 at 11:00 am - Local realtor, Sabrina Strang, will talk about the basics of buying a home and homeownership, including financial management, budgeting, understanding credit, navigating the mortgage process, and homeowner responsibilities.

Senior Book Club - Wednesday, December 7 at 1:00 pm - Join us for a lively discussion about The Last Thing He Told Me by Laura Dave (Thriller).

Maker Monday - December 12 at 6:30 pm - Maker Monday is an in-person craft program for adults every 2nd Monday. Come learn something new, share with others, seek crafting advice, and meet other makers. Materials are provided free of charge. Ages 14 and up welcome. This month we will make charcuterie boards using woodburning tools.

Medicare 101 - Friday, December 16 at 10:00 am - Juliann DeLozier, an independent Medicare Educator, will present information on signing up for Medicare, submitting claims, and the differences between Medicare and Medicare Advantage.
