Greetings from the City of Rowlett’s Water Utility Division.
The Water Utility Division is responsible for providing safe drinking water to the citizens of Rowlett. We store and distribute the water for the City of Rowlett.
The City purchases potable water from the North Texas Municipal Water District, which treats the water for public use, then sends the water from their plant in Wylie to Rowlett. The Water District’s primary water source is Lake Lavon. The water is pumped into the City’s distribution system and elevated tower.

Our residents should be confident that the drinking water quality (PDF) protects their health and well-being. 2020 Drinking Water Quality Report (PDF)
The water distribution is closely managed through the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) central monitoring system in order to meet all Federal and State regulatory requirements issued by Texas Commission on Environmental Quality. This system provides water service to our customers 24 hours a day.
