Municipal Court

The Rowlett Municipal Court is temporarily closed due to Coronavirus (COVID-19).  All court dates have been postponed through April 30.  Documents and payments can be submitted by mail, email, or by using the drop box in the court lobby.  

Fines can also be paid online using the Rowlett Municipal Court online payment system.

You may be able to resolve your case without personally appearing in court.  If you are eligible for Deferred Disposition or the Driving Safety Course option, you can submit your request using the links below.  Please complete the form and send in by mail, email, or fax.  Please contact the court office at 972-412-6222 with any questions.

please do not personally appear at the Rowlett Municipal Court to resolve your case. You can contact the court by phone or by email to notify court staff of your concern. You will be provided with options to proceed with your case online, by mail, or by email.  You may also be granted an extension so that your case can be processed at a later date.  Medical documentation may be required for an extension.

Thank you for visiting the Rowlett Municipal Court website. It is our desire to assist the public in a positive and friendly manner that assures fair and quality customer service.

The Rowlett Municipal Court strives to provide professional court proceedings that follow all applicable laws and ensure that the rights of all persons are observed.

The Rowlett Municipal Court processes and adjudicates class "C" misdemeanor criminal cases which occur within the territorial limits of the City of Rowlett. Examples include:

  • Speeding
  • Disorderly Conduct
  • Expired/Invalid Motor Vehicle Registration
  • Minor in Possession of Alcohol
  • Parking Violations

The Rowlett Municipal Court frequently offers a walk-in docket on Tuesdays at 9:30am and 1:30pm. You can come to the court without a setting. The court will stay open as long as there are people who have appeared, but it will close once everyone has been seen. You must arrive on time if you want to see the judge.  Please contact the court office at 972-412-6222 to make sure the walk-in docket is available on the day you want to appear.   

***Please note, beginning in April 2020 the walk-in docket schedule will change to Mondays at 9:30am***
