The City of Rowlett Neighborhood Life Office is excited to announce Katie Rinz as the November recipient of the Spirit of Rowlett Award! This award is to publicly recognize ordinary residents doing extra-ordinary things in our community, and they’re nominated by YOU – the citizens of Rowlett.
Katie was nominated by Rowlett resident Malesa Rose (along with numerous others on Facebook!)
“My children and Katie‘s girls attend the same elementary school, and we have served together on our local PTA board for serval years. Katie is a true champion for the Rowlett community. She is an integral part of many clubs, committees, and community projects. She is probably best known for being an advocate for all the pets and animals of Rowlett, serving on the Rowlett Animal Shelter Advisory Board for many, many years. She routinely goes above and beyond to ensure the safety and well-being of the wildlife community in our City with no personal gain. She gets calls and texts about wounded or abandoned animals, both domesticated and wild, at all hours of the day and night and never hesitates to drop everything, using her own resources, to help. Katie is also a great source of information regarding her local government, asking all of the right questions, and sharing that information with Rowlett citizens. Even with the extra responsibility of being widowed, therefore sole provider and caregiver for her children, her commitment to philanthropy in the community Is nothing less than impressive."
Do you know a local hero? Nominate them at Rowlett.com/Spirit by the third of each month. This is a great way to say “Thank you” to those who have encouraged, supported and acted in a way that has impacted you in your everyday life. We look forward to hearing from you and to providing this recognition for good deeds, done well!
