The City of Rowlett Neighborhood Life Office is excited to announce Jeanine Langford as the January recipient of the Spirit of Rowlett Award! This award is to publicly recognize ordinary residents doing extra-ordinary things in our community, and they’re nominated by YOU – the citizens of Rowlett.
A tireless Animal Shelter volunteer, Jeanine was nominated by several Rowlett residents. She is there nearly every day and knows each of the dogs by name as well as by personality. She pays particular attention to the sick or traumatized dogs that come in, giving them the love and comfort they need to heal and helping them cope with the stressful environment. Recently, she organized a group of volunteers to complete a small “bucket list” for a very ill shelter dog, allowing her to enjoy love, green grass, burgers and car trips in her last days. And of course she was with the dog when she passed making sure her final hours were filled with peace and love ❤️. Jeanine is such a staple at the shelter that she has her own rocking chair to rock and comfort injured and frightened animals. She has also been known to foster and adopt a dog or two from the shelter. Jeanine also volunteers with Friends of Rowlett Animals and is a staple in the organization. Finally, since she is at the shelter on a daily basis, Jeanine is able to meet many of the people who come in to adopt a new pet and is able to make great recommendations so that they get a pet that is suited to their lifestyle, and the dog gets the home that meets his/her needs. Her work has greatly contributed to the health and welfare of the animals of Rowlett, which in turn contributes to the health and happiness of our citizens!
