Rowlett Housing Finance Corporation Board Applications – deadline to apply is Sunday, June 30

The Rowlett Housing Finance Corporation Board of Directors has two positions up for appointment/reappointment – deadline to apply is Sunday, June 30th!
The purpose of the Rowlett HFC is to provide a means to finance the cost of residential ownership and development that will provide decent, safe, and sanitary housing at affordable prices for qualifying low and moderate-income residents. The City Council is seeking citizens in our community interested in serving on this board and participating in the process, members will be instrumental in identifying development candidates that are in alignment with this mission. Additionally, Rowlett HFC Board members will play a critical role assisting in the financial evaluation of each proposed deal. The Board will have access to mortgage bond counsel, legal counsel, and financial advisors to assist them.

The Rowlett HFC Board is comprised of five members serving staggered four-year terms—president, vice president, secretary, treasurer, and officer. The president and vice president will be appointed to four-year terms. The remaining officers were appointed to an initial term of two years, with the term then becoming four years after the initial term.

A subcommittee of the City Council will interview candidates and make their recommendation to Council, who will then make their appointment at an upcoming City Council meeting. As with other Boards and Commissions, requirements are: must be 18 years of age, a registered voter of the City of Rowlett and a legal resident of the City of Rowlett. Because the Board will
be involved in reviewing affordable housing deals, we will be looking for individuals that are supportive of the mission of the Rowlett HFC. We are interested in citizens that have a passion for the need to create housing that is affordable for all.  People with a background in, or familiarity with, real estate financing and development, strategic planning, financial management and a willingness to work in a fast-paced team environment would excel in this position.  Meetings are held on the 3rd Wednesday of each month at 9:00 a.m., so they would need to have a schedule that would accommodate.  Some travel is involved to network with other professionals in the industry.  Please do not be discouraged from applying if you do not have that technical background.
