Dallas County COVID-19 Vaccine

City of Dallas & Dallas County Open First Mega Public Vaccine Site

The City of Dallas and Dallas County opened the first mega public COVID-19 vaccination site at Fair Park (Fair Park Mass Vaccination FAQ) on Monday, January 11, 2021. Registration is currently limited to those in Phase 1A or Phase 1B, as defined by the Texas Department of State Health Services. As additional supply of the vaccine becomes available, Dallas County Health & Human Services (DCHHS) will open up the registration form to additional groups, as directed by the state.

The mega vaccination site will be open Monday to Saturday, 8am to 5pm, pending vaccine availability.

Vaccinations will be available by appointment only. People who wish to receive the vaccine through DCHHS must register online here. Individuals will receive a confirmation email notifying them that they have successfully pre-registered and of next steps.

You may also register by phone starting today (January, 15, 2021) from 8am to 5pm, Monday through Friday. The DCHHS Vaccine Registration Hotline number is 469-749-9900 and registration assistance is available in English and Spanish.
***Phone registration is closed on Monday, January 18 to observe MLK Day***

There is no Dallas County residency requirement, those living outside Dallas County are also eligible to participate.

Open Monday-Saturday, 8am-5pm (pending vaccine availability)

Fair Park (Fair Park Mass Vaccination FAQ)

Ellis Davis Field House
Eastfield College

The Fair Park center has the ability to vaccinate up to 2,000 people per day (at no cost) as the state moves to open more large-scale vaccination hubs. The county is also planning on providing vaccinations for up to 1,000 people per day at the Ellis Davis Field House and Eastfield College.

Vaccines will be administered only to those who qualify:

  • Phase 1A: Front-line healthcare workers and residents at long-term care facilities;
  • Phase 1B: People over 65 and people with a chronic medical condition that puts them at increased risk for severe illness from COVID-19;
  • are on the DCHHS waiting list;
  • no residency requirement (available for both Dallas and non-Dallas County residents);
  • and by appointment only -- they will not be given to the general public or to walk-ups.
Additional vaccine locations and more information here.

The City will continue to work with area providers, helping them through the approval process and providing support for any long-term care facilities not scheduled to receive vaccines from third party providers. This role may evolve over time as the vaccine becomes more generally available and future needs are identified. Vaccinating everyone will take time, the process could extend well into 2021 and no one agency, hospital or business can manage a project of this magnitude. We will all work together – the Rowlett way - to ensure the health and safety of our community!

COVID-19 Case Counts

(Click on picture for larger image) The first chart in this post illustrates confirmed COVID-19 case counts numbers as 7pm Thursday, January 14 - the rest are updated Rowlett trend charts. Yesterday, 100 new cases were added. We are also sad to share that Garland Health Authority notified us of an additional death.

Find information about the vaccine and how those who qualify may register to receive it here.

The COVID-19 vaccine dashboard is available at Texas Department of State Health Services website. You'll find  updated vaccine distribution information along with administration information.

Please continue to stay home whenever possible, and stay safe. Stay vigilant when you must go out - wear your face covering, maintain safe distancing from others not in your group and, most importantly, wash your hands often. These measures are critical not only to slow the spread and protect people's lives, but also to protect our economy from further closures and to prevent compromising the health care services we need across the state.

City of Rowlett Statement by Mayor Dana-Bashian & Chief Godfrey

As those who are called to serve, we work every day to protect those fundamental truths.

Statement of Service to our Community ...

The City of Rowlett believes in democracy. We believe in unity, and the rule of law. The violence that transpired in Washington, D.C. last week not only violated these tenets, but struck at the very core of the values we hold sacred. And we, as those who are called to serve, work every day to protect those fundamental truths.

“In Rowlett, I am very proud of the way our community peacefully works through any disagreements and differing opinions,” said Mayor Tammy Dana-Bashian. “Together, I know we will continue to make a difference by being kind, thoughtful and responsible citizens.”

While the images from the U.S. Capitol were extremely difficult and disheartening to watch, we can be proud of the resiliency of our governmental institutions as they faced this challenge to our democracy.

“As the United States of America prepares to inaugurate our next president, the Rowlett Police Department is aware of heightened national security concerns over the coming weeks and stands ready to ensure the safety of our community,” said Rowlett Police Chief Michael Godfrey. “It is our honor and privilege to serve the citizens of Rowlett.”

Crime Prevention through Environmental Design
Keep bushes trimmed low

RPD Crime Tip

Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) ...
We are in the winter months and often this is a great time to prune trees and shrubs. CPTED recommends that trees be trimmed or pruned to a 7 foot height and shrubs be kept at a 3 foot height. This allows for a good sight view under the trees, and with shrubbery, less places to hide and a better view of the home or business. No crime tip is full proof, but each one that we implement makes for a safer community.
