Rowlett Rotary Club Donates FlagsA special Thank You to Ken Noel and Paul Attwood with the Rowlett Rotary Club for partnering with the Parks and Recreation Department to show honor to our First Responders this weekend. They provided 18 American flags that are displayed along the sidewalk at Veterans Park to honor those who lost their lives 20 years ago on 9/11. Next time you are downtown, take a stroll through Veterans Park and remember those who serve as First Responders, then and now, along with our Veterans. Thank you Rowlett Rotary Club!

The annual Senior Health Fair will be held on Tuesday, September 14 from 9am to 12pm at the Rowlett Community Centre. We are offering exciting activities, knowledgeable vendors and lots of freebies this year! See you there!

Welcome New Police OfficerOn Wednesday, September 1, Daniela Geddie was sworn in as our newest police officer. Daniela was born in Mexico and grew up in Waxahachie, Texas, where she graduated from Waxahachie High School in 2014. While growing up, Daniela participated in the Waxahachie Police Department Explorer Program. Daniela graduated from the Cedar Valley College Police Academy on July 26, 2021. Welcome to Rowlett, Daniela!

During the month of September, those who register for a new library card and those who check out materials will be entered into gift card drawings.
Patrons requiring a new card will also be able to replace it for FREE during this time. To register for a new library card, you will need a government-issued photo ID with your current address. You may also bring in a piece of mail with your name and current address.

Lake Highland TrailNorth Rock Construction continued pouring concrete for the trail section from Tidewater Drive toward Miller Road. Approximately 300 feet of trail was completed this week. Due to shortages of concrete and other materials, and past weather, the contractor is behind schedule for making the substantial completion date but is still on schedule for making the final completion date.

Faulkner-Thornhill-Powell Alley ReconstructionKIK Underground poured the concrete for 250 feet of alley pavement in the Thornhill/Faulkner alley. The contractor completed installation of the storm sewer in the Powell -Jones-Persimmon-Colonial alley this week.
