Spotlight Story This month Mayor Tammy Dana-Bashian features an interview with Rowlett Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Commission member Alena Shelbia. They discuss the Celebrate Diversity event, "Celebrate DiverCity - Let's Get Back to the Future". This event is scheduled for Saturday, October 2 from 4-7pm at the Village of Rowlett Downtown. We hope to see you downtown at this event! #Rowlett4All
The next event, and this one will be ongoing every 2nd Monday of the month from 7-8pm at the downtown clock tower - DiverCity Hour at the Tower - where we'll share stories through an open mic, spoken word, poetry, games, skits, etc - you get the idea! The whole purpose is to get citizens interacting with each other and genuinely get to know one another. We hope to see you at some of these events! #Rowlett4All

Star Wars Reads Week, October 4-9At a Library far, far away ... kids of all ages were reading Star Wars books and daydreaming about Jedi Knights, light sabers, Yoda, storm troopers and Darth Vader! Enjoy a week of Star Wars activities at 2pm each day with a special Adults Only Meet & Greet on Thursday, October 7 at 6:30pm. And a Star Wars Day from 11am to 3pm on Saturday, October 9. May the force be with you!

Food & Friendship for FinesDuring the month of October, patrons may donate non-perishable food items or join the Friends of the Rowlett Library to waive fines off their accounts. For each package of food donated, the Library will take $1 off patron fines. This only applies to fines for late materials; it does not apply to fees from lost or damaged materials. Patrons who sign up for a $25 Friends membership will have $25 waived off their fines. Collected items will be donated to local food pantries. The Library will also accept non-perishable pet food donations.
