Back-up Power Generators

The City of Rowlett water and wastewater utilities experience intermittent power outages year-round however, the February 2021 winter storm was the impetus to secure backup power. On June 16, 2021, the City Council approved two stationary backup power generators. Merritt Rd. Water Station generator installation is underway, and Liberty Grove Water Station will start next week.

We are excited to bring you these hometown events over the next couple of months. As this year winds down we hope you have a wonderful holiday season with your family and friends, and make some of these fun events part of your memories. Save these dates and remember ... there's something for everyone! We've included the Arts and Humanities Commission Grant applications at the bottom of the list too.

Night Hike - Saturday, November 13 starting at 7pm. Meet in front of the Rowlett Community Centre to hike the trail at Pecan Grove Park. Bring a flashlight!

Share the Warmth - sponsored by the Administrative Action Team (admins throughout City departments). This year, ACT is working with two separate and worthy organizations to collect donations for the people they help all year long. See donation list and drop off places in the link.

Write Your Novel at the Library - Wednesdays in November, National Novel Writing Month. Your story matters, ages 13-18.

Yard of the Season - Nominations close on November 21

Decorate Downtown - Create a tree to decorate downtown! You must provide your own tree, decorate it and bring it downtown for submission (call 972.412.6151 when ready to submit your tree) Submission period: November 29 thru December 3 by 5pm. See our synchronized dancing light show the entire month of December!

12 Days of Christmas - Join us for 12 wonderful days of programs and activities that will surely put you in the Christmas spirit! Starts November 29 and ends December 10.

Main Street Fest/Holiday Parade - Saturday, December 4 from 5 to 9pm vendors will line Main Street and there will be Christmas music performances along with the Holiday Parade featuring light up floats, kid's areas and much more! We know this will put you in the holiday spirit.

8th Annual Sunset Santa 5K - sponsored by the Rowlett Area Chamber & Visitors Center. Saturday, November 27 - run or walk then stay for cookies and pictures with Santa in his workshop plus more!

Select Lanes Closed Going Eastbound on I-30 starting Nov. 1

TxDOT I-30 Traffic Advisory

Reminder: For about the next four weeks the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) will close lanes on the westbound I-30 Lake Ray Hubbard bridge from Dalrock Road to Bass Pro Drive. The closures will provide room for crews to start expanding the I-30 bridge and eventually connect to a new frontage road bridge under construction.

Drivers can expect daily one-lane closures from 9am to 3:30pm, and nightly two-lane closures as needed from 7pm to 5am.

This work is part of the $142 million project to build new frontage road bridges across the lake from Bass Pro to Dalrock, and rebuild the Dalrock interchange.
