Dan Miller was hired by the Rowlett Police Department on February 12, 2004. He attended the Basic Peace Officer Course at the North Central Texas Council of Governments Law Enforcement Academy and attained his peace officer license in June, 2004. Dan was subsequently sworn in as a Rowlett Police Officer on July 6, 2004. As with most police officers starting their careers, Dan was assigned to the patrol division where he worked various shifts and was assigned to several units including containment team, crime scene, field training officer, and less lethal instructor. He has received multiple letters of appreciation and commendation. Dan promoted to the rank of Sergeant on August 6, 2009, and Lieutenant on July 19, 2015. Dan has attained his TCOLE Master Peace Officer Certification and is a graduate of the Institute of Law Enforcement Administration Command College. Dan is a graduate of the FBI National Academy, Session number 270. Dan holds a Bachelor’s degree in Organizational Leadership and a Master of Science in Criminology, both through Texas A&M University at Commerce.
