Whitney Laning is the President and co-founder of the Rowlett Citizen Corps Council in North Central Texas. He has over 25 years’ experience working with nonprofits, and is a Certified Volunteer Administrator and Certified Nonprofit Executive. Whitney works as a nonprofit management consultant and independent contractor.
The Texas Jaycees recognized Whitney with the 2004 Five Young Outstanding Texans Award. In addition to numerous other awards and honors over the years. Most recently, Whitney was recognized with the 2018 Fire Chief’s Award of Excellence, and the 2017 Richard Huff Excellence in Community Service Award from the City of Rowlett. Also notable are the 2017 Hero Award by Men and Ladies of Honor, and the Big “R” Pacesetter Award by the Rowlett Chamber of Commerce.
Whitney is Past Chair of the Rowlett Chamber of Commerce, Past Chair of the Rowlett Long-Term Recovery Committee, and he participated in the last two Charter Review Commissions for Rowlett, the last being Chair. He is a member of the Economic Development Advisory Board and was the Vice Chair of the Comprehensive Plan Steering Committee. Regionally, he serves as the First Vice Chair of the Regional Citizen Corps Council of North Central Texas.
Whitney has a long, dedicated record for service to his community, with an emphasis on disaster management, public safety and emergency services. A twenty-year resident of Rowlett, Whitney makes his home here with his wife, Bobbi, and two children, Emily and Ryan.
