Yes, a permit is required any time a water heater is replaced. A water heater has certain codes required by State law that must be followed. Once the water heater has been replaced or repaired, a building inspector must come out to check and make sure the repair or replacement meets the code standards.
It is mandatory that a contractor register with the City before beginning any work. The Contractor Registration Form can be printed from of our website and brought to the counter for registration or faxed along with a valid government issued photo ID, the current trades license and a completed credit card authorization for the appropriate fee if required. (Incomplete submittals will not be processed.)
